My Sunday was awesome and I pray that yours was also. Today, we celebrate the birthday of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. During this time, we commemorate his life and his legacy. Dr. King is mostly remembered for his DREAM. I encourage you today to pray for your dreams and accept whatever charge you have been given. In all thy ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your path (Proverbs 3:6).
Read Genesis 22:1-18
We know the story of Abraham pretty well. He was old when God promised him an heir. His son, Isaac, is called “the son of promise”. In Genesis 22, God instructs him to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. Abraham obeys. But God saves Isaac and blesses Abraham even the more than the blessing he promised before. This blessing is to the seed of Abraham. If ever you lose your faith, review Romans 4:13. It sums up what God has done through Abraham pretty well.
For the promise that Abraham would be heir of the world was not made to him and his descendants through the Law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.
Today’s Faith Sight Word
PROMISE. When I was a young girl, my uncle John Hall would always remind me about one Easter when I confronted him about Easter baskets that he had promised me and my sisters. Children never let you forget the promise you make to them. I think God must have a childlike heart because He doesn’t want you to forget the promises that He has made to you.
Recipe for the Fast
Meat-free Collard Greens
bunch of Collard Greens (chopped)
1 large white onion
1 large green pepper
1 clove of garlic
Lipton Onion Soup Mix
Thoroughly clean greens with salt and vinegar water. Rinse well and drain. Add minced garlic to the 3 qt pot with olive oil. Add vegetables and green leaves. Allow greens to make their own water. Add about 2 tablespoons of water and then add 1/2 package of onion mix. Pour in vegetable broth when greens are without water in the pot. Simmer and then remove from heat. Add any other seasoning after greens are cooked.
Repeat as many times during the day as you remember it.
I am heir to the promise that God gave to Abraham. Nations are blessed by my obedience to God’s word. I am an overcomer. I will no longer wait for something to happen for me. I work to pursue my destiny. I live a life of excellence, giving honor to our King.
Recommended for ages 6-16 years old
This story by the author, Bruce Wilkinson, is for young and old. I recommend purchasing this book in hardcover. It makes a great gift to graduates, friends and ministry leaders. The first portion of the book is written like a juvenile story. The second part of the book is written to help adult readers understand what they are called to do. If you are currently looking for your purpose, discover that there are several promises in your life that God has spoken that will lead you into your promised land.
“Now may you devote yourself to His Dream for you. And may heaven describe you as one of those rare people who live to achieve Great Things for the glory of God.” Bruce Wilkinson
